2012 Spirit of Innovation Competition Winners Announced

RESEARCH TRIANGLE PARK, NC - Fifteen finalist teams gathered at NASA-Ames Research Center to compete in the 2012 Spirit of Innovation Summit presented by the Conrad Foundation from March 29-31. Teams featured presentations on the subjects of Aerospace Exploration, Clean Energy and Health and Nutrition.

Winners were selected in each of the three categories: Aerospace Exploration, Clean Energy and Health and Nutrition. The category of Aerospace Exploration produced the first tie in the history of the competition. The winning teams were “Moonwalking Manakins,” “Infinity,” “Operation Gulliver International,” and “Team H20.” Each of these winning teams was presented with a complimentary one-year Sigma Xi Affiliate Circle Membership in recognition of their outstanding achievement.

Sigma Xi members served as online mentors, coaches, and phase one competition judges during the 2011-2012 academic year. Several Sigma Xi members traveled to the annual innovation summit and acted as finalist judges.
